trophy-winner

that's me, the trophy-winner for Worst Blogger Ever. since january, there have been like 101 events that are blog-worthy, but i was too lazy to put fingers to keyboard. so... let's see if i can give a sloppy and abbreviated recap.
1. Easter - major Earthquake. the first i felt in California. not fun. accentuated by the fact i was at a bar. but i must also point out church came before the bar.
2. April - i got a job!! i will be moving back to Dallas where i can't wait to hang out once again with friends i love!!! can't wait for 105 degree summers and 20 degree winter. serious.
3. later in April - American Academy of Audiology in San Diego... which means i was reunited with many of my audiology friends, namely my best one, Erin Castioni. oh yeah, lots of parties and learning about new ear stuff.
4. and yet later in April - my little sister got married!!! i have a brother-in-law!! she got hitched on a blustery, cloudy day at the beach. yes, she looked beautiful and yes, they are so very happy now.
5. May - i graduated with my Doctor of Audiology degree! 3 days of fun which resulted in an upper respiratory infection which i am still battling... i finally walked during a graduation!! a new experience. and all of my family came to share it with me, which i was so thankful for!
so that is the very short update. and in 2 short weeks, i will be finished with my externship in San Diego, and my exceptionally wonderful boyfriend will be helping me move back (ROAD TRIP!).
i will try my hardest not to win another trophy as bad blogger. no guarantees. :)

wow

i can't believe i actually just applied for graduation for my Doctor of Audiology degree. it's so exciting! Even though i have been in school for 10 years for undergrad and graduate school, i have never 'walked' after completing a degree. for the (hopefully) final degree of my life, i am excited that i will get to walk along a platform in my cap and gown, with tassels from my hat... even if it is an undescribable green color.
i will soon be in the working world with millions of other people!
and ready to start paying back those student loans. :)

Fall?

it's fall! or at least it should be, but the temperature hasn't really dropped here in San Diego. From the people i have talked to, this is the time of year that non-native San Diegoans miss their hometowns the most. Most of San Diego has moved here from other regions of the US, mainly due to the wonderful weather. But, with the months of October and November here, the temperatures dipping for the rest of the country, but not us.... it seems like everyone wants to reminisce about the way the leaves change and rustle; how they used to get bundled up and cover their heads against the cold wind; drink hot chocolate and eat pumpkin pie and other comfort foods.
Here and there in San Diego, i have found the occasional maple tree that's starting to change. Its colors changing ever so slightly from green to yellow to orangey-red, all on one leaf. i miss that smell in the air that feels like fall, when you know it's right arund the corner, or announcing that it's here for another year.
the last couple days the temperture did drop into high 50's in the evening.... and although we don't have the fully changing colors of fall.. we did have fog at twilight, which is another natural wonder in itself.

quote of the day: "you can never have too much gouda!"
spoken by a fellow lover of cheese as we were trying to decide on what to purchase at the store.
